About Giant Plumbing

Who we are

The Giant Plumbing team in front of their excavators at the yard

We are a commercial and industrial plumbing contractor based in Coburg North, with over 25 years of experience in the trade. Plumbing, excavation, burst fire service repairs and roofing are all carried out in-house.

We started in 2013 with a broad mix of residential and commercial plumbing. Over the years the work has grown into commercial maintenance, fire services, drainage and excavation, roofing and larger projects, and we have built up the team and the equipment to carry out more of it ourselves.

We work for builders, facility and property managers, asset managers and government, on government housing and facilities, schools, commercial and industrial properties, shopping centres, apartments and strata, and in the Defence sector.

The owner behind Giant Plumbing

Anthony Richardson Director of Giant Plumbing

I started out in manufacturing and industrial maintenance plumbing, on sites including Ford and Kenworth and in commercial food production and catering facilities. Those sites had to keep operating while the work was done, and that gave me a grounding in maintenance, fault finding and working around production.

I started Giant Plumbing because I wanted to build my own business and have control over the standard of work we put out.

I’m still closely involved. I quote the work, deal with clients directly and oversee our projects, and I’m hands-on when needed, particularly for investigations or jobs where we have to work out exactly what is going on before we repair it.

Being the biggest plumbing company is not the aim. I want the right equipment to take on difficult work and do more of it ourselves.

Finishing the job

We aim to work a problem out and get the job done, rather than do the easy part and pass everything else on.

Looking beyond the fault

When we repair a burst pipe or investigate a blockage, we want to understand why it happened and whether another issue will cause trouble again.

Giving straight answers

We document what we find. If something needs replacing we say so, and if there is a practical repair we give you that option.

Experience and credibility

Much of what we are called for is not straightforward: an underground fire service leak, a drainage problem nobody has been able to resolve, a difficult roof leak, or a job that needs excavation, concrete and plumbing together.

  • A fire service riser repaired at night, with new copper pipe and a blue valve in the excavation
  • A Giant Plumbing technician feeding a drain camera into a stormwater pit
  • New metal roof sheets laid between two brick walls, a roofer kneeling at the far end
  • A Giant Plumbing worker in an excavation beside a commercial street, valve key in hand

Licensed and accredited

  • VBA Plumbing Contractor Licence 102926
  • Master Plumbers member
  • Backflow Prevention Association of Australia
  • Working at Heights
  • Public liability cover of $20 million

Supplied before we start on site
